Google Wave: Awesome PM Tool or Mayhem?
Sunday, November 29, 2009 at 03:58PM
Google Inc. has generated a tremendous amount of buzz on the "interwebs" recently with their limited beta release of Google Wave. In their own words, "Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more". Google Wave uses a very different communication and collaboration paradigm than what most people are used to using. This is probably the greatest risk for the Google Wave project. By project risk, we of course mean potential for negative and positive outcomes.
As members of project management teams, project sponsors, and project clients, we know we dearly love effective communication tools. But is Google Wave the Holy Grail of "real-time communication and collaboration", or another potential pain point?
The Key Stakeholders Blog will be doing an in depth review of Google Wave as a project management tool. We need your help! Please give us your feedback on the effectiveness of Google Wave as a tool for communication and collaboration with your project team, sponsors, and other key stakeholders. Specifically, we are very interested in your impressions of the organizational change management (OCM) you did to roll-out Google Wave, and the adoption among your key stakeholders.
If you did not get a Google Wave invitation yet, we may be able to help: Please make a request in the thread for Google Wave invites in our Forum. Good luck!
